VIP Preview: Monday June 14, 4-7pm

THREE SCREEN RAY is a classic example of Bruce Conner’s collagist sensibility which combines found footage along with footage shot by the artist. Within this tour-de-force of editing technique, the film material itself is manipulated by Conner with hole punches, scrapes, and ink stains. Conner’s experimentation with film speed and composition, creates an almost spectral image. Bruce Conner, who died in 2008, left behind a legacy of great art historical importance. His pioneering work in cinema has inspired generations of artists and filmmakers, as well as prefigured the genre of the music video.

Bruce Conner’s films are in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum, New York, the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Museum of Modern Art, New York, Centre Pompidou, Paris, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and numerous other public and private collections.
