CERITH WYN EVANS

With the advent of Radio Astronomy… (Grey), 2010
This edition consists of a text by the artist, printed on vinyl text material. The text can be reproduced to a preferred size and can be purchased in either transparent glossy or charcoal grey.

Text reads:

With the advent of Radio Astronomy in the early 1960′s, techniques for the mapping of space made enormous technological advances. New findings were applied to existing data, and it was discovered that within maps charting vast swathes of the Southern Hemisphere, astral bodies – estimated to be millions of light years away – had been erroneously named and catalogued after microscopic inconsistencies within photographic emulsion. Solar systems identified from particles of dust, galaxies from dandruff.

EBERHARD HAVEKOST

Glück, B08, 2008
White Cube is pleased to present Glück, a print by Eberhard Havekost. There has always been an important interplay between photography and painting in Havekost’s work, the photograph often acting as the very starting point and structure to his paintings. Inversely, the image is shot with a strong painterly sentiment, both in colour and composition. The traditional methods used to print these lithographs intensifies the textures, colours and photographic definition of the image. Like his paintings, the subjects of Havekost’s prints often capture a fragment of everyday life that has been overlooked, allowing for new contemplation on something otherwise unappreciated.

Falten (1-2), B08, 2008
White Cube is pleased to present Falten, a diptych print by Eberhard Havekost. MARC QUINN

The Ecstatic Autogenesis of Pamela, 2010
White Cube is pleased to present this limited edition print and book by Marc Quinn. The image of the print depicts the artist’s polished bronze sculpture of Pamela Anderson, doubled and staring upwards in a state of ecstasy. Over each print, the artist has individually hand painted, making each one unique. The print comes enclosed in a signed and numbered catalogue from his most recent White Cube exhibition.

Apple, 2010
Marc Quinn’s delicate bronze flower sculptures hybridise different elements of plants into one. The apple is one of the fruits that is incorporated into these bronze plants, alongside exotic orchids, vegetables and leaves.

‘Apple’ sits as a solitary object, as if dropped to the floor from one of these plants. It is lightly coated in cobalt plating that produces a spectrum of unnatural colours.

AG1, 2010
Each of the sculptures in this series is individually cast from a single orchid. Marc Quinn here explores the idea of life’s frailty, by capturing the life of a flower in full bloom, its most sublime state, and like the frozen flowers of his work ‘Garden’ (2000), gives it a permanence that otherwise would wilt away. Here, the cast silver gives the orchid’s surface a frosted effect, as if locked in space.
