100 OF THE WORLD’S GREATEST ARCHITECTS, ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS HAVE CONTRIBUTED THEIR WORK for sale at a charity auction at Sotheby’s on October 6TH 2010 in NEW YORK.
With the goal of connecting the greatest minds in contemporary art and design to the inspiration of these Modern icons, the National Trust for Historic Preservation is pleased to announce the Modern Views project to benefit the Mies van der Rohe’s 1951 Farnsworth House in Plano, Illinois and Philip Johnson’s 1949 Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut.
The Modern Views project leadership invited a global slate of 100 participants to create an artwork accompanied by a short statement that captures how these two iconic buildings inspire their work. It is a dialogue about vision and precedent, influence and inspiration, theory and practice, intellect and passion.
