It is our great pleasure to invite you to Art Basel Miami Beach, December 2-5, 2010.

Can we always trust what we see? What do our eyes perceive and how do we process this information? Is a black rectangle in a painting an abstract sign, the obstruction of information or a political statement? Is a manipulated record player simply a beautiful object or a metaphor? The works in this year’s booth suggest fields of meaning that should be understood as open (but not arbitrary), internally dynamic and psychologically engaged fields.

Triptychon II by Eberhard Havekost introduces the theme with a loud triple blast. The sculptures by Lothar Hempel, Richard Hughes, Michael Joo, as well as Anne Collier’s photograph of a puzzle, Marcel Odenbach’s collage, and Wilhelm Sasnal painting of a war monument follow immediate suit. Paintings by Brian Calvin, Mark Grotjahn, Sergej Jensen, Alessandro Pessoli, and Jonas Wood deliver subtle variations to the theme of perception and truth, while Jim Lambie’s turntable and Matthew Monahan’s magical oil-on-paper drawings aim directly at the viewers’ emotions. David Shrigley’s gargantuan black ceramic boots conclude the presentation with a surprising coda and prove that the comic is the perception of the opposite and humor is the feeling of it.

If you wish to receive more factual information on the works, please feel free to contact us. Have a great journey, and we look forward to seeing you at Booth G03.
