After a break of four years Ekrem Yalcindag (1964), who has come up with his large sized wall paintings at Museum Schloss Morsbroich, Leverkusen and Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, can be viewed in Istanbul, with his second personal exhibition in Dirimart; “Impressions from the Streets.”
The name of the exhibition emphasizes the artist’s interest in impressionism. Rhythm and the liveliness of the colours by Robert Delaunay and the effective perception of the colour sequence by George Seurat have been the major sources of the art of Yalcindag. The exhibition is composed of seven works with rounded forms in diameter of two meters. The union between the form of canvas and patterns on the surface has significant importance for the artist. Besides “watching everyday life as colours” brings a pop character into the paintings, usage of contrasts such as light and dark, warm and cold generates an optic effect.
These rounded formed paintings that Yalcindag has worked on at particular intervals since 1997 are displayed together in an exhibition for the first time.
Ekrem Yalcindag’s “Impressions from the streets” can be viewed throughout February 15th to April 19th in Dirimart.
