Bortolami Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in both the Independent and The Armory Show art fairs. The Independent at 548 West 22nd Street will run from March 3–6, 2011. The Armory Show at Piers 92 and 94 (Twelfth Avenue at 55th Street) will run from March 2–6, 2011.
At the Independent, Bortolami Gallery will present new works by Michel François.
Michel François currently lives and works in Brussels and Paris. In the last year he has had solo exhibitions at Institut d’art Contemporain Villeurbanne (France), SMAK in Ghent (Belgium) and at Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne (Switzerland). Accompanying other works, Michel François will install a new iteration of Pièce détachée for the Independent.
At The Armory Show, Bortolami will present works from the following artists:
Richard Aldrich lives and works in New York. Currently, he has a solo exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis. In November 2011, Aldrich will open an exhibition at SF MoMA. New paintings will be on view for the Armory.
Tom Burr lives and works in Norfolk, CT and New York. Currently he has a solo exhibition at FRAC Champagne-Ardenne in France. He has had solo exhibitions at Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel, Sculpture Center in New York and Vienna Secession. Tom Burr will present a sculpture at the Armory.
Morgan Fisher lives and works in Los Angeles. Fisher has exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Portikus in Frankfurt and the Tate Modern in London. He will open an upcoming exhibition at Raven Row in London in February 2011. Bortolami Gallery will present a project of Morgan Fisher’s work in April 2011.
Piero Golia currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He has recently been included in group shows at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, MoCA Los Angeles, MAXXII in Rome and Fundacion Coleccion Jumex, Mexico. In 2010, the public commission Luminous Sphere was presented by LAXART and LA Public Domain. For the Armory, Golia will present a sculpture.
Jonathan Meese lives and works in Berlin. In the last year he has had solo exhibitions at the MoCA North Miami, CAC Malaga (Spain) and the Arp Museum in Remagen (Germany). Meese will hold his third exhibition with Bortolami Gallery in November 2011.
Peter Peri lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions include ART NOW at the Tate Britain in London and Country 10 at Kunsthalle, Basel. Peri will show a new sculpture at Bortolami’s booth at the Armory.
Eric Wesley lives and works in Los Angeles. Recently he has been included in group shows at the MoCA Los Angeles, Fundacion Coleccion Jumex, Mexico and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. A new sculpture will be on view at the Bortolami booth.
At the gallery, 520 W 20th Street, will be shows of Anna Ostoya and Tom Burr. Bortolami also represents Avner Ben-Gal, Daniel Buren, Shane Campbell, Thilo Heinzmann, Patrick Hill, Piotr Janas, Scott King, Gary Webb, and Aaron Young.
