BOMB Magazine celebrates its 30th Anniversary with a gala benefit dinner and silent auction of important contemporary artworks on Friday, April 15, 2011, at Capitale, 130 Bowery (at Grand Street) in New York City. BOMB is honoring performance artist Marina Abramović; director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Richard Armstrong; Art in America‘s editor for almost four decades, Betsy Baker; and acclaimed novelist and essayist Francine Prose. The distinguished critic Arthur C. Danto will offer a toast to Marina Abramović; painter Mary Heilmann will toast Richard Armstrong; Ellsworth Kelly will toast Betsy Baker; and author Michael Cunningham will toast Francine Prose. Each honoree will be presented with a “Pink Bomb,” created specially by Tom Otterness.
The event is a who’s who of contemporary culture. The Trustee Chair, Klaus Kertess, will be joined by Honorary Chair Amy Phelan and Co-Chairs Robert Duffy, Mary + Sean Kelly, Michèle Gerber Klein and Michael Ward Stout.
