Featured Artists on Independent Collectors
Presenting Art Online – First Year Recap
www.independent-collectors.com/featured-artists
In its first year, the Featured Artist section of Independent Collectors, the online community for contemporary art collectors, has made inspiring progress in the field of presenting art online.
Featured Artist pages are online exhibitions of artworks sponsored by leading contemporary art galleries, and they provide both registered members and visitors to the site with access to high quality and diverse art, artists, and galleries. These pages offer valuable insight, since, oftentimes, the artists featured, the gallery sponsors, and/or the markets in which either are best known are still emerging. Each Featured Artist page presents a collection of images depicting artworks by one contemporary artist and also includes a short biography as well as details about the works, which are available for sale directly through the gallery.
Featured Artists and Gallery Sponsors in the past year:
Garth Weiser (Casey Kaplan, New York, NY)
Daniel Pitín, Erik Andersen (Charim Ungar Contemporary, Berlin/Vienna)

In the feature’s first year, sponsorship was limited to galleries that had taken part in Art Basel (either in Basel or in Miami Beach) or in LISTE Basel in one of the latest three editions. In the future, Independent Collectors will work to develop a dynamic selection process that considers galleries’ participation in leading art fairs, their exhibition programs, and the artists with whom they work in an attempt to present important, interesting, and pioneering artists and galleries through an equally innovative platform.
Besides establishing a line of contact between art appreciators and a forum in which they can purchase art, Independent Collectors attempts to encourage the subsequent experiencing of art first-hand and is not involved in any commercial exchange. Rather, through the sponsorship of participating galleries, the Featured Artist exhibitions serve to support Independent Collectors’ community of collectors and the website in lieu of traditional advertising banners.
