The 2012 edition of Art Los Angeles Contemporary returns to the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Air Center from January 1922. The fair features an exclusive roster of 65 top established and emerging galleries from 11 countries across the globe, with an emphasis on Los Angeles-based galleries. ALAC 12 also features an expanded number of independent book publishers.  A series of lectures, panels, performances and screenings will take place throughout the duration of the fair.

UBS Wealth Management Americas, as part of its continued commitment to the arts, has joined Art Los Angeles Contemporary as a supporting partner. “UBS has a long history of supporting contemporary art and believes that art is a means of sharing different perspectives—something we try to do every day as we advise our clients in creating tailored financial solutions,” said Michael A. Schweitzer, Western Divisional Director for UBS Wealth Management Americas. “We are proud to partner with ALAC as it enables us to champion the arts in the Los Angeles community where many of our employees and our clients live and work.”  Fair Grounds Associates has also selected ArtBinder and Paddle8 as supporting partners.

ALAC 2012 opens on the evening of Thursday, January 19 and launches the 11-day Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival. Disappearing Environments, a piece originally performed by Judy Chicago, Eric Orr and Lloyd Hamrol in 1968, will be re-created by Chicago and Materials & Applications the fair’s entrance with an installation of 25 tons of dry ice and an accompanying flare performance taking place at dusk during the fair’s opening event.
