Paddle8.com to present auction online until January 26
The Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) will celebrate Trisha Brown’s 75th birthday with an art auction to support the Trisha Brown Archive at Sikkema Jenkins & Co., 530 West 22nd Street, on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 6:30–9:00 pm. TBDC is uniquely positioned at the intersection of the performing and visual arts worlds, a result of Ms. Brown’s career as a visual artist and her historic collaborations with other renowned artists in the field.
The auction will feature works by over 30 distinguished artists including: Laurie Anderson, Cecily Brown, Chuck Close, Dan Colen, Louise Fishman, Nancy Graves, Adam Helms, Arturo Herrera, Roni Horn, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Barry Le Va, Sol LeWitt, Roy Lichtenstein, Andrew Lord, Robert Mangold, Peter Moore, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Petersen, Ellen Phelan, Christopher Rauschenberg, Robert Rauschenberg, Analia Saban, Peter Saul, Matt Saunders, Richard Serra, Joel Shapiro, Amy Sillman, Laurie Simmons, Josh Smith, Al Taylor, Wolfgang Tillmans, Richard Tuttle, Kara Walker, Lawrence Weiner, Terry Winters and Joe Zucker. The auction will also include a print/etching/edition by Ms. Brown, and as well as a unique poster expressly designed for Ms. Brown by Robert Rauschenberg, her long-time collaborator and friend. Sotheby’s will conduct the proceedings.
Paddle8 will be collaborating with TBDC to present the art auction online at paddle8.com/forgood/TRISHA until January 26 at Noon. All online bids will continue to the live event on January 27 when the bidding will close. In addition, ten signed posters created by Robert Rauschenberg will be available for immediate purchase for 1,000 USD each at paddle8.com/forgood/TRISHA. The Trisha Brown Archive provides insight into the inspirations and creative process of one of our greatest living choreographers and dancers. The Archive will feature original performance footage, intimate photographs, candid interviews, and notebooks—an illuminating resource, most of which will be fully digitized and available on the web for all to see and hear. Select material will be housed within an internationally renowned institution, with access for researchers and artists.
