The grunt gallery online archiving project is going live. Working with curators, writers, and designers, grunt is developing a series of websites that will bring the archives online. This project involves the production of six subject-based websites as well as an interactive database system that will support independent research and exploration.

At the core of grunt’s work since its inception in 1984 has been the creation of an extensive archive of materials, reflecting the depth of our programming and the important Canadian artists we have supported and showcased. Since 1984 we have amassed a huge collection of materials, including printed documents, slides, digital images, video tapes as well as extensive audio files. The grunt Archive consists of documentation of exhibitions, performances, as well as publications, conferences, festivals and other special events. Grunt’s archive features work by international and Canadian artists with a strong focus on contemporary First Nations artwork – significant material not available in any other archive or collection.
