On the last weekend of June in Berlin and the first weekend of July in Paris, the project Berlin-Paris, a gallery exchange will illuminate the artistic tendencies of the two capital cities for the fourth time. Initiated by the French Embassy in Germany and galleries in Berlin, the exchange is organized by the Institut français Deutschland / Bureau des arts plastiques with the intention of creating new impetuses through an interesting selection of galleries. The principle is simple: Berlin galleries invite Parisian galleries to present their artists’ works at the locations in Berlin; the Parisian galleries respond to this invitation a few days later. The participating galleries enjoy complete freedom concerning the choice of collaborations and the selection of artist.
A new feature this year is the involvement of art centers and two curator collectives: The Office (Berlin) and Le Bureau/ (Paris) together have organized a day of artistic interventions under the motto “… and they installed the office in the tavern” in the public space of a cafe (at the “3 Schwestern” in the Kunstquartier Bethanien in Berlin and in the bar of the historic foyer of the Gaîté Lyrique in Paris).
This year the following galleries will take part, presenting more than 60 artists:
Carlier | Gebauer – Marcelle Alix
Chert And Motto – cneai=
Galerie Campagne Première – Emmanuel Hervé
Galerie Ulrich Fiedler – Jousse Entreprise
Galerie Zink – Almine Rech Gallery
Klemm’s– Torri
Mehdi Chouakri – Galerie 1900-2000
