The Fall Session of Christie’s Private Sales Online Gallery will run now through December 21, 2012, and will showcase first-rate Post-War and Contemporary art and fine Jewelry on christiesprivatesales.com, allowing collectors to view and acquire select works privately, outside the auction timeline. Featured artists will include: Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Ed Ruscha, Alexander Calder and Rudolf Stingel. Examples of fine Jewelry will include pieces by Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston, and Boucheron.
The Private Sales Online Gallery features a selection of Post-War and Contemporary works as well as Jewelry, all available for private sale. While the Online Gallery is not a sales transaction platform, clients are able to browse at their convenience and request additional information regarding pricing and condition directly from a specialist. All of the works in the Online Gallery will be available for viewing upon request should clients wish to view the works in person.
“Since its launch last spring, Christie’s Private Sales Online Gallery has become an integral part of the company’s market-leading private sales strategy, so we are delighted to launch the fall season with such an exceptional line-up of fine art and jewelry,” said Marc Porter, Chairman Americas and International Head of Private Sales at Christie’s. “For collectors at all levels, the online gallery has become a popular destination for finding hard-to-source items outside of the traditional auction sales calendar.
Whether a client’s passion is fine art or jewelry, our online sales experience is well-suited to the increasing number of collectors who are continually seeking to add exciting new pieces to their collections.”
Launched in the spring of 2012, the inaugural session of Christie’s Private Sales Online Gallery reached a worldwide audience of over 65,000 unique visitors per month. The addition of the accessible online platform has contributed to the continued growth of the sector and the incredible success of the spring sales season, with private sales totals reaching 661.5 million USD as of June 2012, representing a 53% increase over the same period in 2011.
Alexis Klein, AVP, Specialist, Post War and Contemporary Art, said “Christie’s Private Sales Online Gallery brings private sales into the digital age—combining the ease of online functionality with trusted expertise. We are delighted to be offering such a strong selection of contemporary works in this innovative new platform.”
