AXA ART Private Preview and Vernissage:
Thursday, 18 April 2013
The exhibitor list for the 47th edition of ART COLOGNE has just been finalized. The chief exhibitor block will feature a formidable roster of top-flight international galleries. They are joined by a high-calibre contingent of returnees and a very promising group of first-timers. Some new names are exciting young galleries in the NEW CONTEMPORARIES section. ART COLOGNE and NADA (the New Art Dealers Alliance) will be working together for a second year, bridging art markets in Europe and the United States. NADA Cologne will have its own separate section at the Fair – Hall 11.3 of the Koelnmesse complex.
ART COLOGNE 2013 runs from 19 to 22 April. Over 200 galleries from 25 countries will be showcasing classical modern masters, post-war and contemporary art. ART COLOGNE Director Daniel Hug says, ‘We’re very happy we can again present a fantastic selection of major art-market players. The high-calibre exhibitor list strongly underlines ART COLOGNE’s position as one of the world’s most important contemporary art fairs. Integration of NADA into the Fair means we can offer an alternative view on up-to-the-minute, cutting-edge art.’
Newcomers to the main fair include Krinzinger (Vienna), Helga de Alvear (Madrid), Giò Marconi (Milan), Paul Andriesse (Amsterdam), Marlborough Contemporary (London), Peres Projects (Berlin), Habana (Havana), Axel Vervoordt (Antwerp), David Nolan and Moeller Fine Art (both New York).
Returnees include blue-chip galleries Thaddaeus Ropac (Paris/Salzburg), David Zwirner (New York/London), Hauser & Wirth (Zurich/London/New York), Karsten Greve (Cologne/Paris/St. Moritz), Michael Werner (Cologne/New York), Annely Juda Fine Art (London), Hans Mayer (Düsseldorf), Sprüth Magers (Berlin/London), Daniel Buchholz (Berlin/Cologne), Gisela Capitain (Cologne), Dirimart (Istanbul), Christian Nagel (Berlin/Antwerp), EIGEN + ART (Berlin/Leipzig), Guido W. Baudach, Martin Klosterfelde and Neu (all three Berlin).
NADA, the New Art Dealers Alliance, will occupy a special section at ART COLOGNE following its successful debut last year. The young galleries from all over the world will be showing a range of new perspectives on contemporary art in Hall 11.3. Some of the names: CANADA (New York), Shane Campbell (Chicago), Bischoff Projects (Frankfurt), Jack Hanley (New York) and Emmanuel Layr (Vienna).
