Art14 London:
Call for applications
28 February–2 March 2014
Art14 London will be staged in Olympia’s Grand Hall between 27 February (Preview) and 2 March 2014. It is the second edition of London’s new global art fair following the resounding success of the inaugural edition earlier this year, which was attended by 24,735 visitors, including 4,503 VIPs and sponsored by Citi Private Bank. The Fair was praised for its groundbreaking international outlook with approximately half the exhibiting artists hailing from outside the west, exhibiting side-by-side with their western peers in a way previously unseen in art fairs.
Collectors, critics and curators commented on the new, original and fresh view of modern and contemporary art offered by the Fair. The global ethos resulted in headlines for the inaugural edition such as “refreshingly different” (Financial Times). Meanwhile artinfo’s headline, “Positive Sales and Spirits at Art13 London” attests to the robust sales and the vibrant atmosphere at the Fair. Most of all, it reflects the demand for the far-sighted perspective that the Fair offers.
International collectors included Don and Mera Rubell, Li Bing, Dai Zhikang, Ramin Salsali, Charles Saatchi, Anita Zabludowicz, Mimi Dusselier and Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo. The Fair was a timely statement of London’s status as a cosmopolitan city whose population comes from all corners of the globe. The Fair’s audience reflected this diversity with collectors from China, the Middle East, India and Europe mingling with London-based collectors.
Art14 London will develop the global platform further. The global is embedded in everything that the Fair offers from gallery presentations to the accompanying Talks, Projects and Performance programmes.
Galleries are now invited to apply for Art14 London. Contemporary and modern galleries are welcome to apply to the Fair. In order to reflect the changing nature of the art world we are also open to accepting up to 10% of exhibitors from non-traditional commercial spaces such as pop-up lead projects. We welcome all modern and contemporary media, with a focus on photography and prints and editions in addition to all other art forms.
The main section is for established modern and contemporary galleries from around the world. There are two curated sections for younger galleries. London First features galleries under five years old that have never previously participated at an art fair in London. Emerge focuses on emerging stars from art scenes around the world presented by galleries who are seven years and under. Both sections boast internationally renowned curatorial advisors. Accepted galleries may subsequently apply for participation in Art14 Projects and Art14 Performance.
Art14 London will offer a unique experience at the heart of the world’s most globalised art market—London.
