The anticipation for PULSE New York 2013 grows as galleries from Los Angeles to Albuquerque, London to Chihuahua, and New York to the Hamptons prepare their booths for the opening of the fair on Thursday, May 9th at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea.
A highlight of PULSE New York 2013 will be PULSE Projects, which includes three ongoing performances throughout the venue by Tim Youd at Coagula Curatorial, Franco Mondini-Ruiz at Creative Capital, and the collaboration of performance artists, Lisa Lozano and Tora Lopez. PULSE Projects also includes works by Tristin Lowe, Russell Maltz, and Jason Rogenes.
PULSE PLAY, the fair’s curated video and technology series, will feature Jani Ruscica’s three-monitor installation, Screen Test (For A Living Sculpture) (courtesy of OTTO ZOO); The Labyrinth Runner by Robbie Cornelissen, which follows the rhythmic breathing of a runner (courtesy of Art Mûr); and Lars Arrhenius, who creates videos from pictographs in The Street, (courtesy of The West Collection).
PULSE New York is pleased to welcome distinguished jurors Lowery Stokes Sims, Curator at the Museum of Art and Design; Sue Stoffel, collector and arts patron; and Hrag Vartanian, Editor of Hyperallergic, to award the PULSE Prize—a monetary grant given to an emerging artist of distinction, exhibiting in the IMPULSE section of the fair. The prize will be announced on Friday, May 10th.
PULSE New York also welcomes Hester Street Fair as its catering partner to offer daily selections of food from some of their favorite vendors. In addition, coffee lovers can enjoy specialty beverages from Brooklyn Roasting.
