Cafe Dancer, 96 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side, founded by Elisabeth Gangnes, Jessie Gold and Elizabeth Hart, a group of dancers/musicians who also collaborate with artists. The bar’s countertop is by Frank Benson and there are site-specific artworks by Naomi Fisher, Corrine Jones and Robbie McDonald. Like FOOD in Soho, co-founded by Gordon Matta Clark, through to Max’s Kansas City and onto Passerby, artists have always gathered in interesting spots.
