The BERLINER LISTE will be held from September 19th to 22nd in central Berlin’s Kraftwerk complex as part of Berlin Art Week. Now in its tenth year, the critically acclaimed exhibition is held in the unique, raw and urban atmosphere of Kraftwerk, formerly a heat and power station. Presenting emerging galleries, project groups and individual artists whose promising work still falls into an affordable price category. Could this be your big break? The BERLINER LISTE 2013 goes back to its roots as an exhibition of discovery featuring new and exciting trends. At the same time, it guarantees a high standard of exhibited work. To ensure an impressive level of artistry and establish the reputation of the fair, Director Jörgen Golz has engaged Dr. Peter Funken as the new curator. The art journalist has long been active as an art curator, having moderated projects including the Polish Avant-garde 1930–1990 and Der Fleck in Geschichte und Gegenwart (The stain in the past and present).
A further new addition is the Photography Section, with which the BERLINER LISTE intends to establish an international showroom for photography in Berlin. The Kraftwerk Berlin with its urban ambience releases sacral qualities with its huge, high ceilings. The industrial monument offers an incomparable architectural stage to exhibit classical photography as well as exiting new tendacies. With its long traditions in photography and its many exhibition halls, Berlin plays a significant role in the photography world.
The Photography Section will be given visual prominence within this year’s exhibition space and be readily identifiable. The section is expected to attract many photography lovers and collectors. Curator Stephan Köhler is Project Manager of the Photography Section and will put together an impressive programme of international galleries and foundations exclusively focused on photography. Among the additional features is the awarding of the Peter-Christian Schlüschen Foundation sport photography prize (endowed with 10.000 Euros).
