Spacex is an internationally respected contemporary art gallery based in the centre of Exeter, UK that shares an exemplary programme of visual culture with local and national audiences. Founded by artists aiming to enrich the regional experience of contemporary art, it has with pioneering curatorial authority shown a diverse and renown portfolio of artists, including exhibitions by Richard Long, Bridget Riley, William Kentridge, Gillian Wearing, Shaun Gladwell, Geoffrey Farmer, Dawn Mellor and Emily Wardill.
In 2014, Spacex celebrates its 40th anniversary and is seeking a successor to its current director, Nicola Hood. This appointment will build on a significant heritage with extraordinary vision, energy, entrepreneurial expertise and leadership experience, to secure future relationships with artists, audiences and funders.
Spacex is core-funded by Arts Council England and Exeter City Council. The director is responsible for the maintenance of these key funding relationships and the operational, financial and creative success of the organisation. Applicants must demonstrate a robust understanding of the professional arts sector, resource, and project management skills.
