From September 19 to 22, BERLINER LISTE takes place during Berlin Art Week. From over 300 applicants who submitted their concepts before the end of July, curator Dr. Peter Funken has approved 131 exhibitors from 30 countries for the tenth anniversary of Berlin’s longest established art fair. The exhibition will be held in the Kraftwerk Berlin, whose extraordinary industrial architecture provides the exquisite setting to stage modern, exciting artwork. As the fair of discovery for modern and contemporary art, the BERLINER LISTE focuses particularly on working with emerging galleries and artists who are (still) selling at moderate prices.
Exhibitors include galleries like ARTCURATOR.RU gallery (Moscow), Smart Ship Gallery (Tokyo), Alex Gallery (Washington), studio 26 gallery (New York City), temporary gallery berlin (Berlin), Chiefs & Spirits (The Hague), Apteka Sztuki (Warsaw) and One Ink Stain (New Delhi) as well as artists such as Tal Frank (Israel), Malgosia Jankowska (Berlin), David Paul Holland (London), Niki Feijen (Heerlen) and David Lynch (represented by Galerie Obrist, Essen). Of all countries on show, work from Harare, Zimbabwe, has travelled the furthest—10,600 km—to be displayed here in Berlin. Additionally, a special exhibition, Gelistet has been personally curated by Dr. Peter Funken, presenting international artists from Berlin. See the full list of exhibitors here.
This year, the Berliner Liste offers up an international platform for photography in Berlin with the new photography section. The industrial monument impresses with its unique, raw ambience and releases sacral qualities with its huge, high ceilings, which offer the perfect frame to present classic photography as well as contemporary trends. The new photography section has attracted, amongst others, Berlin gallery Egbert Baqué Contemporary Art, so what.Gallery (Düsseldorf), Galerie Hiltawsky (Berlin) and the project space pavlov’s dog (Berlin). As if this wouldn’t be enough, Berlin gallery F37 will present an exclusive preview of Carsten Sander’s new exhibition Deutschland – deine Gesichter (Germany – your faces).
