#abcberlin
The innovative, artist-centered format of abc focuses on artistic practice. The 130 international galleries will be showing individual presentations of contemporary art. Within this presentation format, the majority of the works on view will be new, enjoying their debut at abc. Many participating artists will exhibit performative and time-based works this year. Others will add performances, musical contributions, artist’s talks and discussions to their presentations, all of which will result in an engaging four-day program.
The program is spread over the entire abc grounds and includes performances, lectures, sound pieces and conversations from and with artists such as Alexandra Bachzetsis, DiS, Kasia Fudakowski, Mathew Hale, Michele Di Menna, Hermann Nitsch, Michael Riedel, Christoph Schlingensief´s Operndorf (Andy Hope 1930, Anri Sala, Aino Labarenz), Nasan Tur, Pae White, Thomas Zipp and others.
The varied program will be complimented by “Upcoming Exhibitions,“ a project introduced by Shanaynay (Paris), in which a new exhibition produced and initiated by 14 invited international project spaces will occur every two hours in abc’s entrance area. Project spaces are 1857 (Oslo), Am Nuden Da (London), Auto Italia South East (London), Betonsalon (Paris), Cleopatra’s (New York City), Gasconade (Milan), Generation Works (Washington), Lulu (Mexico), New Theater (Berlin), Ohio (Glasgow), Peles Empire (London), The Ister (Brussels), Treize (Paris), and Works Sited (Los Angeles). The structure of “Upcoming Exhibitions” has been designed by June 14 Meyer-Grohbrügge&Chermayeff. “Upcoming Exhibtions” has been developed in collaboration with Red Bull.
MISS READ: The Berlin Art Book Fair will also be returning to abc this year, providing a platform for exhibitors to present their most recent publications and featuring numerous talks and book launches; a further highlight in the diversity of the overall program.
