ART TAIPEI, formerly known as Taipei Art Fair International, is the longest-standing art fair in Asia. Organized by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association since 1992, ART TAIPEI 2013 will be held from 8 to 11 November at the Taipei World Trade Center.
As the most experienced art fair in Asia, ART TAIPEI serves as the main platform for the trading of contemporary Asian art and has been building long-term observation on the art market. Besides the geographical and multi-cultural advantages, numerous influential and professional collectors involved along with the development of Taiwan’s art market in the 1980s have nurtured the growth and featured the success of ART TAIPEI. In a more general sense, ART TAIPEI not only stands for the cultural hub of Chinese contemporary art, but also is the connection point between southeast and northeast Asia and embodies the conjunctive practice between visual arts and the industry.
Gathering over 150 exhibitors, mostly from the Asia Pacific region, ART TAIPEI 2013 presents the diversity of contemporary art by showing the works of international recognized artists, as well as many young talents. Furthermore, ART TAIPEI presents series of related projects every year. Joined with Mr. Friedhelm Hütte as Global Head of Art at Deutsche Bank AG, the Art Taipei Forum provides the systematic analysis of the prestigious arts sponsorship programs. Art Taipei Forum also invited Singapore Freeport Real Estate Pte Ltd’s Chairman, Mr. Tony Reynard, to analyze the development of this critical trend that would impact the entire visual arts industry. Tailored for art lovers, the “Art Lectures” invites directors of private museums in China to share their observation on global trends of Asian contemporary art collection, as well as its own predicament and challenges. Also, the “Art Lectures” invite well-known Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama to share his unique experiences of image creation with us. The projects and programs launched by ART TAIPEI are subject to the expansion and interaction of contemporary art in Asia, and proposing practical discourses to connect the culturally segmented Asian art world.
Embracing the 20th anniversary this year, ART TAIPEIappreciates the participation of all exhibitors, collectors, and audiences, and would continuously demonstrate the passion and ambition for being as an approach of art practice. With more involvement of its own cultural background and current international trends, ART TAIPEI 2013 aims to map the Asian art context and global art scene in the next 20 years by providing the perspective, vision, and imagination for the love of art.
