Latitude: Platform for Brazilian Art Galleries Abroad is delighted to announce its programme for autumn 2013. This October, in London and Bogota, Brazil will have record representation at art fairs, with 11 and 10 galleries respectively, showing in each city. The project will see eleven Brazilian galleries displaying both leading and emerging contemporary art at Frieze London, Frieze Masters and the Moving Image Art Fair. Six Brazilian galleries will participate in Frieze London, some of which will make their debut appearance at this year’s show. Four additional member galleries will display works at the satellite fair, Frieze Masters, and one gallery will showcase work at the Moving Image Art Fair. Latitude is also delighted to present gallery highlights for Brazilian galleries at artBO in Bogotá, Colombia (25 to 28 October) and to announce an exhibition as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2013 (9 to 13 October).
Frieze Art Fair, London
Highlights from the galleries exhibiting at Frieze London (17 to 20 October) include Galeria Fortes Vilaça’s presentation of conceptual minimalist work by Iran do Espírito Santo alongside work by José Damasceno. Both artists often utilise unorthodox materials and abstracted everyday items within their practices. Galeria Fortes Vilaça will also present the rigorous photographic compositions of Mauro Restiffe. A Gentil Carioca will present installation works by some of the pioneers of contemporary art in Brazil, Helio Oiticica, Cabelo and Neville D’Almeida. Work by 2013 Absolut Art Award winner Renata Lucas, Mexican artist Pedro Reyes, and Art Review’s October issue cover artist Fernanda Gomes will be shown by Galeria Luisa Strina. Galeria Vermelho will be showcasing works by Dora Longo Bahia, who presented work for the Brazilian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale 2013, Odires Mlászho. Galeria Vermelho will also exhibit reflective installation sculptures by Marilá Dardot within the Frieze Sculpture Garden. Within the Focus sector, works by Catalonian artist Daniel Steegmann Mangrané will be showcased by Mendes Wood DM and Galeria Jaqueline Martins will display a solo presentation of the work by Genilson Soares within the Frame exhibitor sector. Galeria Jaqueline Martins will make its debut at Frieze and Frieze Masters this year.
Within the Spotlight sector at Frieze Masters, stand highlights include the intricate wood cuts and etchings by Anna Mario Maiolino which will be shown by Galeria Millan, works by Rubem Valentim to be displayed by Berenice Arvani and Luciana Brito Galeria will exhibit works by the Argentinean artist Liliana Porter. Galeria Nara Roesler will be showcasing photographic works by Julio Le Parc. In addition to this, a video installation titled Innerself by Luiz Duva will be shown by Galeria Pilar at the Moving Image Art Fair.
ArtBO, Bogota
From 25 to 28 October, Latitude: Platform for Brazilian Art Galleries Abroad will see ten galleries showcasing cutting-edge contemporary art works at artBO, the International Art Fair of Bogotá. For artBO, highlights include Baró Galeria presenting work by Patrick Hamilton, Lourival Cuquinha, Felipe Ehrenberg, Dario Escobar, Moris, Iván Navarro, Elena Damiani and Ricardo Alcaide. Galeria Jaqueline Martins will present a series of photographs and videos by Dudu Santos, Daniel Nogueira and Edwin Sanchez. Works by Pablo Accinelli, Magdalena Jitrik and Carlos Garaicoa will be showcased by Galeria Luisa Strina and Galeria Millan will present works by Tatiana Blass.
Frankfurt Book Fair
Latitude: Platform for Brazilian Art Galleries Abroad will also present the exhibition “Beyond the Library” as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2013 (9 to 13 October). The exhibition, curated by Ana Luiza Fonseca, will bring together 11 Brazilian artists that utilize our connections with books and literacy as the central focus of their work. The show will offer viewers a fresh insight into current Brazilian contemporary artistic production through the work of artists Ana Luiza Dias Batista, Chiara Banfi, Edith Escobar, Fabio Morais, Jimson Vilela, Lucas Simões, Lucia Mindlin Loeb, Marcius Galan, Marcelo Silveira, Marilá Dardot, and Odires Mlászho.

The discussion will be chaired by Anders Petterson, Managing Director of ArtTactic, and panelists include Latitude’s research co-ordinator Dr. Ana Leticia Fialho and Alia Al Senussi, a curator, art advisor and patron.
After the talk, attendees are invited to stay for an exclusive cocktail reception and a late viewing of Orpheus Twice at David Roberts Art Foundation. A short music performance by Fulvio Caldini, Fade Control op. 47/c for four recorders will be presented at 8pm.
