Presented by the International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA)

The INK Miami Art Fair opens on Wednesday, December 4 at 10am with ¡Desayuno Cubano! at the Suites of Dorchester, just two blocks from the Miami Beach Convention Center. XL Group Insurance returns as Premier Sponsor of the Fair and host of the annual Pulp Party. XL specializes in Property, Casualty, Professional and Specialty insurance for large corporations and middle market companies. Since its inception in 2006, the Fair has established a following among museum curators and committed collectors of works on paper. The Fair is designed around a lush open-air courtyard enabling participating dealers to exhibit in a salon-like fashion. With a roster of returning specialist dealers and the addition of new exhibitors, the Fair offers blue-chip works by internationally acclaimed artists.

Exhibitors are selected by the IFPDA’s Contemporary Committee and reflect the vitality of the Association’s modern and contemporary membership. These leading dealers and print publishers will showcase 20th-century modern and postwar masterworks as well as hot-off-the-press editions by leading contemporary artists. New editions include Christian Marclay, E.V. Day, Alyson Shotz and Alex Katz at Graphicstudio/U.S.F.; Liliana Porter, Allison Miller, Matt Magee, Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet, Jim Dine and James Siena at Tamarind Institute; Ronnie Tallon, Donald Teskey and Sara Lee from Stoney Road Press, one of Ireland’s most innovative contemporary print publishers; Robert Cottingham, Nicola Lopez, Maser and Mickalene Thomas at Tandem Press; and Daniel Kelly, Katusnori Hamanishi, Sarah Brayer and Shigeki Kurodaat at Verne Collection. The Old Print Shop will exhibit a three-artist show of American self-published artists/printmakers Clare Romano and John Ross and Emilio Sanchez, a Cuban artist who lived in New York and is best known for his images of the Caribbean and Florida. Childs Gallery will highlight works by Cuban contemporary artists Osmeivy Pacheco Ortega and Sandra Ramos as well as a series of 80 prints, “The Caprichos,” by Emily Lombardo, which are simultaneously an homage to and parody of Francisco Goya’s Los Caprichos, the famed series which satirizes the follies of Spanish society in the 19th century. Dolan/Maxwell features contemporary works by David Shapiro, Steven Ford, Cheryl Warrick and Donald Forsythe and important modern prints by Stanley William Hayter, Benton Spruance and Judith Rothschild.

While celebrated for its emphasis on new projects and postwar masters, the addition of Catherine Burns and Pia Gallo this year widens the Fair’s scope to include early twentieth-century masterworks on paper. Leslie Sacks Fine Art will feature important modern prints and drawings by Marc Chagall, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso as well aspostwar works by Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler and Ed Ruscha and a small retrospective of Korean contemporary artist Minjung Kim. African-American artists such as Rashid Johnson, Jacob Lawrence and Romare Beardon can be found at Aaron Galleries. Lucian Freud, Paula Rego, Wayne Thiebaud, Manolo Valdes and Claudio Bravo will be on view at Marlborough Graphics. Carl Solway Gallery focuses on postwar masters with prints by John Cage, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, Ann Hamilton, Kiki Smith and Joan Snyder; and Dranoff Fine Art will exhibit Sigmar Polke, Marilyn Minter, Sol Lewitt, Bruce Nauman, Donald Baechler, and Cy Twombly.
