Pursuing their support of contemporary creation, Swarovski announces their association with FIAC.

True to their long-standing commitment to supporting contemporary creation, Swarovski’s energetic policy of patronage has, over recent times, led to the development of partnerships with prestigious institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Whitechapel Gallery in London and the Venice Architecture Biennale, among others.

Swarovski’s involvement in the field of visual arts will be reinforced through its association with FIAC (Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain) in Paris and its celebrated Hors les Murs programme.

Radiating from its home in the exceptional venue of the Grand Palais located in the heart of Paris, each year FIAC takes place in a number of equally prestigious outdoor venues, namely the Tuileries Garden, the Place Vendôme, the banks of the Seine River and the Jardin des Plantes / National Museum of Natural History.

FIAC’s broad geographic sweep within the city together with the extensive variety and diversity of the chosen sites enables FIAC to present projects which are atypical in nature and size. FIAC’s Hors les Murs programme is one of the most extensive and ambitious of its kind in the world. Each site attracts some 500,000 visitors throughout the duration of the fair.

In the framework of their partnership with FIAC, Swarovski has chosen the remarkable setting of the Jardin des Plantes. A call for projects conceived for outdoor exhibition and open to all artists represented by galleries that have participated in the last two editions of FIAC is to be launched immediately. The prize winner will receive a grant of 10, 000 euros for the production of the chosen project. Curator Gaël Charbau will accompany the program from its launch through to the exhibition of the selected work.

Projects must be inspired by the universe of Swarovski, world leader in precision-cut crystal. Swarovski invites artists to consider the material itself and more generally its visual and sensory implications (light, transparency, brilliance, refraction…), innovative treatments of luminescence and/or the specific production techniques and savoir-faire associated with crystal cutting and façonnage.

Depending on the precise nature of the award-winning project, Swarovski may provide the materials required for production, access to its world-class production tools and precision equipment housed in the Swarovski workshops in Wattens, Austria, and the collaboration of specialized engineers and technicians.

Conditions of participation:
Applications must contain a maximum of 20 pages.
Only submissions containing the following items are eligible for consideration:

–The participant’s artistic background (curriculum vitae)
–A general presentation of the project: creative approach, artistic intent, objectives, feasibility, methodology, potential for development, request for technical support and guidance, etc.
–The completed technical file (to be downloaded on the FIAC website): materials, dimensions, conditions of exhibition, etc.
–Visual documentation of the project in colour: drawings, sketches, photos, models, etc.
–A note of intention / letter of motivation of a maximum length of one page (single-sided A4 format) expressing the reasons why the support provided by Swarovski is valuable and pertinent for the realisation of the project
–A single-sided A4 format summary sheet detailing the principal characteristics of the project
–The sponsorship agreement, featured in Appendix 2 of the regulations, duly completed, initialed and signed

Materials included in the application should suffice to explain the nature of the project, its visual and technical characteristics and artistic intention.

A document proving the identity of the artist (passport or identity card) should be enclosed.
