Amsterdam Art Weekend’s third edition is being held during the last weekend in November, from Thursday 27 through Sunday 30. For one long weekend the city will turn into an internationally oriented meeting place for promising and renowned artists, for art enthusiasts and professionals. Once again, the emphasis lies with the discovery of young talent.
Participants include galleries, museums, art institutes and artist residencies. Programming for the Amsterdam Art Weekend 2014 is based on a number of fundamental aspects. These roughly involve gallery exhibitions, performances, screenings, conversations, residencies and a professionals program.

The 50 international resident artists of the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (the renowned residency program) in Amsterdam will open the doors to their studios. During RijksakademieOPEN 2014, new developments in art will be presented.

About Rijksakademie
A selection of talented and ambitious artists from all continents come to Amsterdam to pursue a two-year residency at the Rijksakademie. Here they have the opportunity to engage in debate, concentrate on research and experiment and devote themselves to producing new work. Artists often experience a huge development during their residency at the Rijksakademie. As a result, it is common to encounter their works in prominent collections, exhibitions and biennials worldwide. In Amsterdam at RijksakademieOPEN, the visitors will be the first to know.
