February 19–April 30, 2015
The Colombian art scene is going through one of its best moments. Year after year the work of artists, galleries and institutions is recognized internationally and Colombia has become one of the most interesting emerging art markets.
Colombia’s participation as a special guest in ARCOmadrid, supported by the Colombian Ministry of Culture, the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Colombian Embassy in Spain, as part of the complete Arco Colombia program; follows a great interest that the country’s art scene has awakened and its relevance as a now prominent actor within the global art scene.
ARTBO, International Art Fair of Bogota, a program of Bogota Chamber of Commerce, has been an important catalyst for the international recognition of Colombia’s art scene, working for over ten years towards generating global visibility for the work of artists and galleries in the country. With that in mind, the fair has joined the aforementioned Colombian institutions to support galleries traveling to ARCOmadrid, as part of its mission of being a platform for Colombian art worldwide.
As a special guest in ARCOmadrid, Colombia will feature ten of its leading art galleries, which will each be presenting two artists selected by curator Juan Andrés Gaitán. Featured galleries and artists include:
Liliana Sánchez, Ícaro Zorbar – Casas Riegner, Bogotá
Edgar Jiménez, María Alejandra Garzón (Suntuosa vulgaridad) – Doce Cero Cero, Bogotá
Manuel Calderón, Jorge Magyaroff – El Museo, Bogotá
Carolina Caycedo, Carlos Motta – Instituto de Visión, Bogotá

Along with the presence of galleries within the fair, Arco Colombia will present a complete program of 50 events in Madrid, including 20 exhibitions of both renowned and emerging Colombian artists. Colombian art will take over the city for over two months, with the active presence of artists, curators, critics, galleries, museums and artist run-spaces.
The entire Arco Colombia program is organized by the Colombian Ministry of Culture, the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Colombian Embassy in Spain.
