“Besides a well-balanced mix of galleries from Austria and the West, as well as young and established galleries from focus regions, we will further expand our successful side programs with international speakers and collectors in the talks program, special presentations and numerous activities in the city of Vienna,” outlines Christina Steinbrecher-Pfandt, artistic director of viennacontemporary.
With “Keys to Contemporary Art,” viennacontemporary aims to bring renowned representatives of the contemporary art scene to Vienna, thereby conveying to interested visitors some insights into the practices of contemporary art. In the section “20four7 – Contemporary Collecting,” organized by Rainald Schumacher, major international art collectors and renowned corporate collections will present their collecting approaches and strategies. The series “Young Collectors Talk” will present the diverse ways of collecting contemporary art.
In addition to the presentations of galleries, talks program and special projects, the art fair’s particular intent is to offer a comprehensive service to Austrian and international collectors both at viennacontemporary and during their stay in Vienna.
“viennacontemporary positions Vienna internationally as a vibrant location of creative industries. From this year on at Neu Marx—we are very pleased to be able to participate yet again with curated by_vienna. One of Vienna’s most exciting locations, the spectacular and 150-year old Marx Halle, has opened its gates for contemporary art. There is no better way to show how the interaction of history and innovation works in this city.”
–Gerhard Hirczi, managing director of Vienna Business Agency.
“Six months before the event, hundreds of international collectors, museum directors, curators, art professionals and VIP guests have already confirmed their participation in this year’s viennacontemporary, many of them returning visitors who attended our fair in the last three years. We are confident to be able to offer an exciting VIP program in cooperation with our partners,” Renger van den Heuvel, managing director of viennacontemporary asserts. “Together with 21er Haus, Albertina, Lower Belvedere, curated by_vienna, ESSL Museum, Jewish Museum Vienna, Kunsthalle Wien, Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, Lenikus Collection, Leopold Museum, MAK (Vienna Biennale), Secession, TBA21 – Augarten, Sammlung Verbund and Heuer Karlsplatz, viennacontemporary has put together an informative program with visits to museums and collections and, thus, channels Vienna’s attraction as an international art and culture hub once again,” Renger van den Heuvel explains with regard to the active network of the art fair with Vienna’s art scene.
The application deadline is 20 March.
