From 9 to 12 April the pavilions of fieramilanocity will welcome 154 international galleries representing the best of modern and contemporary art and limited-edition design from all over the world. The number of galleries participating this year at the fair in Milan has grown once again, with a further increase in international exhibitors over the last editions.
The number of galleries participating this year at the fair in Milan has grown again, with a further increase in foreign exhibitors over the last editions: this year there are 72 international galleries—46% of the total—with an outstanding number of galleries from the United States (25) and the United Kingdom (23)—bearing witness to the foreign market’s stronger perception of miart and the formula developed by its Artistic Director Vincenzo de Bellis. There are also several Italian and international galleries participating for the first time at a fair in Italy or returning after a long absence. Many galleries have now chosen miart as their fair for representation in Italy.
Once again, there will be four sections at this 20th edition: Established, with 105 exhibitors—subdivided into the sections Master, for galleries showing work by historically established artists; Contemporary, for galleries specializing in contemporary work; and First Step, a new sub-section for galleries already recognized on a national and international level, participating at miart for the first or second time, and the galleries that move from the Emergent to the Established section; Emergent, including 19 avant-garde galleries focusing on young artists, with 16 international galleries and six making their first appearance in an art fair; THENnow, an invitational section presenting 18 galleries, each showing a comparative installation of works by an established artist and one from a more recent generation; finally, Object offers a selection of 12 galleries active in the promotion of contemporary design created in limited editions and approached as artwork.
