¡Bienvenidos! Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015
Three days, more than 50 artists, 45 free exhibits open to all the public, and the most important cultural institutions in the city: from September 10 to 12, everyone will be celebrating the grand festival that turns Madrid into the world capital of contemporary art. In its sixth edition, Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend is an initiative of the 45 contemporary art galleries that form the association Arte_Madrid, an invitation to tour the city in a different way by discovering its most recent contemporary creations.

From September 10 to the 12, the 8000+ square meters that form the rooms of 45 galleries of Arte_Madrid will be transformed into Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend, an event that marks the beginning of September cultural tour. For one weekend the art galleries inaugurate all together and at the same time, extend hours and program special actions free of charge. Similarly, with the agreement of the great cultural institutions (Reina Sofia Museum, Thyssen Museum, Center Dos de Mayo, Casa Árabe…) and ARCOmadrid, Arte_Madrid develops an extensive program of activities to bring the latest creation to the public.

The city transforms into a grand salon of contemporary art, where people can discover Spanish art through artists of the new generation, along with established and well-known international names. But there is also room for great masters who have written the history of art for the 20th century.

Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2015 will be a tour of all disciplines, including installations, painting, photography, sculpture, and so on.

International contemporary art also has space in the rooms of this particular “museum.”  Outstanding figures form a part of the program.

Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend is the great art event that brings collectors, experts and professionals from all over the world to our city. Its principal objective: to bring the greater public closer to contemporary creation and to be a meeting point for the sector.

ARCOmadrid and Apertura
Among the parallel activities of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend made to bring contemporary art closer to the public, is the ARCO Gallerywalk, organized in collaboration with the Madrid fair. It is guided by experts and is free, allowing visitors to tour the galleries and discover artists in the hands of professionals in the art world.

Arte_Madrid
The great contemporary art festival is organized by the association of Arte_Madrid galleries, which currently consists of 45 members. These galleries habitually participate in international fairs of the greatest prestige, such as Art Basel, Frieze, The Armory Show, FIAC, Artissima Torino, ArtBo, and SP Arte. They act as ambassadors of Spanish art in the international art scene.
