With around 100 participating galleries, the eighth abc art berlin contemporary will have its exhibition in the halls of Station Berlin at Gleisdreieck from 17 to 20 September. Galleries from 17 countries will be showing individual positions in contemporary art—mainly new works and premieres—from established artists to emerging newcomers such as Ai Weiwei, Saadane Afif, Florian Auer, Katinka Bock, Kate Cooper, Alice Creischer, Björn Dahlem, Ryan Gander, Yngve Holen, Karl Holmqvist, Alicja Kwade, Annika Larsson, Michaela Melian, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Matt Mullican, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Ryan Trecartin, Jorinde Voigt, Pae White, and many more. abc gallery night 16 September, 6–9 pm
abc kicks off on the Wednesday evening prior to abc with the Berlin galleries opening their doors with exhibitions by artists such as Cecily Brown, Mariana Castillo Deball, Mario García Torres, Camille Henrot, Sofia Hultén, Barbara Kruger, Friedrich Kunath, Gabriel Kuri, Sol LeWitt, Peter Piller, Cindy Sherman, Gedi Sibony, Slavs and Tatars, Florian Slotawa, Hito Steyerl, Juergen Teller, and Rosemarie Trockel. Proximities and Desires
The exhibition Proximities and Desires presents works from Berlin-based private collections arranged by the curator Nikola Dietrich. Some 14 collections—About Change Collection, Boros Collection, Feuerle Collection, Haubrok Collection, Julia Stoschek Collection, Olbricht Collection, Salon Dahlmann, Wurlitzer Collection, the collections of Dr. Matthias Döpfner, Paul Maenz, Egidio Marzona, Alexander Schröder, Wilhelm and Gaby Schürmann, and Ivo Wessel—will be showing works by artists such as Giovanni Anselmo, Bernadette Corporation, Gino de Dominicis, Michael Elmgreen / Ingar Dragset, Claire Fontaine, Kasia Fudakowski, John Knight, Ana Mendieta, Manfred Pernice, Mandla Reuter, Nora Schultz, Heimo Zobernig and others. The exhibition conveys the distinct character of each collection, represented by selected works encompassing periods from the sixth century to the present day.
Talking Galleries
This year, for the first time, Talking Galleries and Berlin Art Week are collaborating to present two discussion panels specially devised to reflect and contrast international trends and the particular gallery landscape of Berlin. Held at abc as morning sessions with free entry, the program will appeal to both gallery professionals and art enthusiasts alike.
