Arthub has been collaborating for five years with artist Li Mu on his ongoing Qiuzhuang Project. The artist has completed a four-part documentary that illustrates the evolution of the project until now. The video installation travels to the Van Abbemuseum for the exhibition Li Mu – A Man, A Town, A Museum this month. The installation is to be screened alongside Li’s recently published book.
The documentary includes footage from a yearlong project Li Mu completed in his rural hometown Qiuzhuang reproducing artworks from the Van Abbemuseum’s collection with village residents. His documentary was presented for the first time in the exhibition Qiuzhuang Project, Sol LeWitt and Lu Daode at Aurora Museum this past June.
Arthub will present Li Mu’s documentary online for the month of September here.

Francesco Simeti at Suzhou Village (Yi Ou Lai)
NYC-based artist Francesco Simeti has been exploring what he defines as “trying to make sense of a bombardment of images that envelop us in daily life: not seeking to fix a core truth, but rather exploring the layers of meaning embedded in the sea of images that surround us.” In his installation Fenyun, dazed and confused at Suzhou Village (Yi Ou Lai), Simeti is presenting a monumental piece that brings his imaginary into the precious material of silk.
