Stephan Balkenhol
solo show
A new individual exhibition by Stephan Balkenhol, one of the most influential contemporary German sculptors, internationally renowned for his figurative sculptures in wood. Deweer Gallery has represented Stephan Balkenhol since 1987 and the current exhibition is his 12th solo show in Otegem. The exhibition is entirely composed with new sculptures. We feel very honoured to be able to present two new bronze editions. The drawing that is reproduced here is a study for the first new edition that is based on the famous marble Laocoön group (1st century B.C.) located in the Vatican museums in Rome. The second edition is larger than Balkenhol’s usual bronze editions. It is called Engelmann (Angel Man) and represents a standing man with a set of angel wings. Both bronzes are available at the exhibition in an edition of 24 copies (plus a few artist’s proofs).

Anna Vogel—Leaving the Water
solo show
The first solo show in Belgium by German artist Anna Vogel (Herdecke, Germany, 1981 / works in Düsseldorf). Vogel, who was a student of Thomas Ruff and Andreas Gursky, foresees for her exhibition Leaving the Water, an ensemble of some 25 new works; a certain number of which are discussed and reproduced in the book Anna Vogel—Data Base Entry, published on the occasion of Vogel’s exhibitions at Deweer Gallery and the Kunstverein Recklinghausen (December 11, 2015–Janurary 24, 2016). The works of Vogel are based on photography; Vogel makes very intriguing photos or combinations of photography, drawing and print, thematically dealing with digital communication, religion and biology.

Jan Fabre—The Hour Blue & Thinking Models
solo show
Jan Fabre—The Hour Blue & Thinking Models is a partial prolongation of the exhibition Jan Fabre—30 Years / 7 Rooms with which the artist and gallery, in November to December 2015, celebrated 30 years of collaboration. The impressive Room II—The Hour Blue is now extended and combined with some historical and new thinking models (Shelter-studios, brain sculptures, etc.).
