EXPO CHICAGO, The International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art, returns for its fifth edition at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall, September 22–25, 2016. Attracting more than 35,000 visitors in 2015, EXPO CHICAGO continues to showcase the city as an international cultural destination, bringing the world’s top art galleries, critically acclaimed programming and international, national and regional curators and collectors to Chicago.
EXPO CHICAGO is currently accepting applications through February 17, including the EXPOSURE section, featuring galleries established up to eight years, and Special Exhibitions program, highlighting international museums, organizations and non-profits. The 2016 application can be accessed here.
Applications will be reviewed by the 2016 Selection Committee, comprised of a diverse group of leading gallerists, for quality of artwork and unique booth proposals. The 2016 members include Marianne Boesky / Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York; Rebecca Camacho / Anthony Meier Fine Arts, San Francisco; John Corbett / Corbett vs. Dempsey, Chicago; Chris D’Amelio / David Zwirner, New York, London; Rhona Hoffman / Rhona Hoffman Gallery, Chicago; David Nolan / David Nolan Gallery, New York; Jessica Silverman / Jessica Silverman Gallery, San Francisco; and Susanne Vielmetter / Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, Los Angeles. The selection committee for the EXPOSURE galleries includes Candice Madey / On Stellar Rays, New York and Kate Werble / Kate Werble Gallery, New York.
For the second year, EXPO CHICAGO will host the annual Curatorial Forum. This critically acclaimed initiative invites 30 national and international curators to Chicago to experience and attend events that allow for an exploration of pertinent issues in curatorial practice today, including a symposium presented in collaboration with Independent Curators International (ICI). EXPO CHICAGO remains committed to presenting critically acclaimed on-site programming including IN/SITU and IN/SITU Outside, curated site-specific installations on the show floor and throughout the city of Chicago; /Dialogues, featuring panel discussions with leading artists, curators, and arts professionals on the current issues that engage them, presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and EXPO VIDEO, a curated selection of dynamic and cutting-edge video art. Chosen exhibitors of EXPO CHICAGO are welcome to submit proposals for IN/SITU, IN/SITU Outside and EXPO VIDEO once they are accepted to the exposition. EXPO CHICAGO will once again present EXPO ART WEEK, September 19–25: a citywide celebration showcasing key exhibition and event alignments with leading museums and cultural institutions.
