“Discovery” and “exploration” are the bywords that define Art Paris Art Fair, the leading springtime event in Paris for modern and contemporary art. From March 31 to April 3, the 17th edition brings together under the glass roof of the Grand Palais 143 galleries from 22 countries which includes for the first time Azerbaijan, Colombia and Iran.

South Korea is the guest of honour of the 2016 edition.

With some 80 artists represented, the fair will offer an outstanding panorama of the Korean art scene, revealing the striking richness of the art scene from “the land of the morning calm,” with work dating back to the 1960s, right up to the present day’s boom in contemporary creativity. It includes the historic masters of abstraction (Ungno Lee, Myeong-ro Youn) and icons like Lee Ufan and Lee Bae, as well as young rising stars such as Kiwon Park who is showing a monumental installation at the entrance of the Grand Palais entitled Flash Wall (2014). There is also a programme of performances called “Rituals” with artists Yeesookyung and Young In Houng as well as a series of events throughout the city including a spectacular installation by Chung Hyun called A Man Standing in the gardens of the Palais Royal.

South Korea Guest of Honour at Art Paris Art Fair 2016 is part of the official programme of France-Korea Year 2015–16.

Monumental video projections on the façade of the Grand Palais
In partnership with Vidélio, Art Paris Art Fair will present a projection of monumental video works on the façade of the Grand Palais every night for the duration of the fair. Six projects have been selected from the following artists and collectives: Kim Joon (Park Ryu Sook Gallery), Moon Pil Shim (Shilla and Anne Lahumière galleries), Kim Yong Min (Paik Hae Young), Antoine Schmitt (Galerie Charlot), Hypnotica (YAY Gallery) and Encor Studio (Galerie Madé).

Daum exhibition on the theme of street art
Art Paris Art Fair is pleased to welcome Daum as official partner of the fair.
For more than a century, there has been an on-going love story between Daum, the legendary crystal and glass manufacturer and the leading artists of the day, giving their work a second lease on life in glass and colour. From the École de Nancy to Art Nouveau and Art Deco, Majorelle, Dali, Georges Braque and Arman, Daum has missed none of the great moments of artistic creation and modern know-how with this everlasting marriage between art and craft.

Daum will bring at Art Paris Art Fair a specific exhibition on the theme of street art for which it has collaborated with a number of artists: Cyril Phan, aka Kongo, one of the leading figures of graffiti art, French street artist Jérôme Mesnager, Romuald Hazoumé who stands out against modern slavery, Gonçalo Mabunda who uses weapons as a creative medium and finally, Alain Séchas who is influenced by the world of comics.

Solo Show on Bus Expo
Also new this year is Bus Expo, in partnership with Air France, offering an itinerant exhibition to five of the artists from the Solo Show section of the fair. The objective is to make contemporary art available to the widest possible audience, which resonates with the values of Art Paris Art Fair and its aim of being a spring fair accessible to art lovers from all walks of life.

The five selected artists are Geneviève Claisse (Galerie Fleury, Paris), Hervé Di Rosa (Art To Be Gallery, Lille), Katinka Lampe (Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire, Paris), Antoine Roegiers (Art Bärtschi & Cie, Geneva) and Fadid Yazigi (Galerie Tanit, Munich).
