A Portrait of Sovereignty, is a site-specific project for Solivagant* which combines sculptural elements with video. The installation draws upon Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow Up (1966), which discusses the modalities of image capture and the political differentiations sparked by the content of the image. S. Bará appropriates and intervenes a scene from the film wherein an intricate choreography between camera, photographer and photographed opens up questions concerning who is performing for whom. S. Bará wishes to contest the forms of dominion underlying authorship, and moreover to question the responsibilities implicated in the production of visual information and the contractual relations between images and individuals.

A Portrait of Sovereignty will be open for walk-ins and by appointment. Artworks are on view daily from 9am to 7pm through the gallery’s window. Documentation of exhibitions can be accessed 24/7 online.

As a platform for experimentation of contemporary practices, Solivagant* invites artists to work site-responsively, via architectural interactions and dynamic installations that reflect a minimalist and post-minimalist attitude.
