EXPO CHICAGO returns with 145 leading international galleries from 22 countries and 53 cities for the fifth annual exposition. In addition to more than 3,000 artists’ work on view, EXPO CHICAGO presents core programming including /Dialogues, EXPO VIDEO, IN/SITU, IN/SITU Outside and EXPO Projects, as well as over 25 special exhibitions from leading international museums, organizations and institutions, making EXPO CHICAGO a must-visit destination on the international art fair calendar.

Programming highlights:

/Dialogues
Presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), /Dialogues offers panel discussions, conversations and provocative artistic discourse with leading artists, curators, designers and arts professionals on the current issues that engage them. See a full list of 2016 panels here. For the first time since its inception, the program will feature a focused Symposium on ART & LANGAUGE, Friday, September 23.

EXPO VIDEO
EXPO VIDEO is a selection of dynamic and cutting-edge film, video and new media works by artists selected from exhibiting galleries at the 2016 exposition. Curated by Daria de Beauvais from the Palais de Tokyo, the works on view are presented in a variety of screening formats including two large-scale screening rooms, as well as several viewing stations designed by Studio Gang Architects. 

IN/SITU and EXPO Projects
Curated by Diana Nawi, Associate Curator at Pérez Art Museum Miami, the IN/SITU program provides a dynamic opportunity for exhibiting galleries to showcase large-scale, site-specific installations by leading international artists. Presented alongside IN/SITU, EXPO Projects features a curated selection of works organized by EXPO CHICAGO. The site-specific installation program highlights large-scale and performative works by emerging and established artists represented by 2016 Exhibitors. 

IN/SITU Outside and OVERRIDE
Presented in partnership with the Chicago Park District and the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), IN/SITU Outside provides the opportunity for EXPO CHICAGO to present temporary public art installations along the lakefront and throughout Chicago neighborhoods. Additionally, the inaugural program of OVERRIDE | A Billboard Project will align with the fifth exposition. In an unprecedented citywide public art initiative, the program features the work of 15 artists from major local, national and international galleries on Chicago’s City Digital Network consisting of 28 digital billboards from August 29–September 25. 

Special Exhibitions 
More than 25 Special Exhibitions from select regional, national and international non-profit institutions, museums and organizations are included in the fourth annual exposition. These exhibitions illustrate and preserve the important relationship between contemporary and modern art and non-profit organizations. 

EXPO CHICAGO Art Critics Forum
EXPO CHICAGO’s inaugural Art Critics Forum will take place Friday, September 23, highlighting significant issues in contemporary art journalism today through the voices of a national and international art critics. Entitled “Transparency | Opacity,” the forum is moderated and led by Sarah Douglas, Editor-in-Chief of ARTnews.

Booth talks, performances & book signings 
In addition to the core programming on-site, a variety of booth talks with established and emerging international artists, book signings with bestselling authors, and performances are scheduled throughout the exposition on the show floor. For a full schedule of events, click here.

EXPO ART WEEK
Highlighting the vast cultural opportunities that Chicago has to offer to collectors, dealers, art enthusiasts and tourists, EXPO CHICAGO in conjunction with Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism and marketing organization and Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, presents EXPO ART WEEK (September 19–25). With EXPO CHICAGO as the centerpiece, the exposition will join together with the city’s most prestigious cultural institutions for this citywide celebration of art and culture that will include museum exhibitions, gallery openings, installations, public art projects, music, theater and dance performances and special dining experiences.
