ASIA NOW, the “boutique art fair” dedicated to contemporary Asian art, will take place from October 20 to 23, 2016, in a new exhibition space located at 9 Avenue Hoche in Paris.

ASIA NOW will gather 34 exhibitors (compared to 18 galleries in 2015), representing artists from 13 Asian territories including Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam.

Exhibitors include: A Thousand Plateaus Art Space (China) with Cheng Qiulin, A2Z Art Gallery (France; Hong Kong) with Hom Nguyen, Blindspot Gallery (Hong Kong) presenting Trevor Yeung, Chi-Wen Gallery (Taiwan) with Chien Chi-Chang, Edmond Gallery (Germany) with Hu Weiyi, Fabien Fryns Fine Art (China) with a new project by Li Wei, Gallery EXIT (Hong Kong) with a solo show of Kong Chun Hei, Galerie Paris-Beijing (France) with an installation by Li Jinghu, ifa Gallery (Belgium) with Xu Zhe, L-Art Gallery (China) with Zhang Ya, Leo Xu Projects (China) with Pixy Yijun Liao, MadeIn Gallery (China) presenting artists Xu Zhen and Wang Sishun, Rossi & Rossi (Hong Kong; United Kingdom) exhibiting Tibetan artists including Kesang Lamdark, Magician Space (China) showing Paris-based Chinese artist Yao Qingmei, Tabula Rasa Gallery (Beijing) with Tu Hongtao, Tang Contemporary (China; Hong Kong; Thailand) with Cai Lei, Vanguard Gallery (China) presenting a solo show of Peng Yun.

From South East Asia: The Drawing Room (Philippines) exhibiting Gaston Damag, news of the world (United Kingdom) presenting a performance by Teow Yue Han, Primo Marella Gallery and Primae Noctis Art Gallery (Italy; Switzerland) showing Chen Shaoxiong, Sa Sa Bassac (Cambodia) with Than Sok, Sundaram Tagore Gallery (Singapore; Hong Kong; United States) with Tayeba Begum Lipi who represented Bangladesh at the 56th Venice Biennale, Yeo Workshop (Singapore) presenting Santi Wangchuan’s textile works.

And then: 313 Art Project (South Korea) presenting Lee Wan, who will represent South Korea at the Venice Biennale 2017, CHOI&LAGER (South Korea; Germany) presenting Ayoung Kim, Misa Shin Gallery (Japan) with Shomei Tomatsu, Park Ryu Sook Gallery (South Korea) with Seulgi Lee,The Columns Gallery (South Korea) showing Um Tai Jung, URANO (Japan) showing Takahiro Iwasaki who is nominated to represent Japan at the Venice Biennale 2017.

ASIA NOW aims to create a close connection between the collector and artists and their works. The second edition will be staged in the intimate atmosphere of a Haussmannian building, through which visitors will be able to wander from one room to the other as they would in a collector’s home.

The programme
ASIA NOW is extending its program, with new projects and performances:

A South East Asian platform, Chimères: Visions of South East Asia, curated by Hervé Mikaeloff, in collaboration with Matthias Arndt (founder of A3) focusing on artists from the Philippines and Indonesia such as Eko Nugroho and Manuel Ocampo

–Shang Xia and Christie’s will present 12 design pieces from their collaboration on Chinese contemporary design

–news of the world, an NGO and research studio curated by Pierre Coinde will present a non-stop screening of the Hanoi Doclab video and a performance on the Singaporean Smart Nation by Teow Yue Han

–A show on Women’s Independence curated by Magda Danysz, commissioned by Etam presenting artists including Li Hongbo, Stella Sujin, and Liu Bolin. The art commissions were unveiled at K11 in Shanghai, prior to ASIA NOW, and will be sold at charity auction and the profits donated to the Naked Heart Foundation founded by Natalia Vodianova
