Open once more to both amateur and professionals across Europe, the chosen candidates will compete for a 150,000 EUR prize, an exhibition and a catalogue.
The successful 12 candidates will be selected to compete in a range of tasks covering a number of photographic disciplines and convince a jury of world-famous photographers and experts that they have creativity, instinct and versatility within the field of photography.
We are pleased to announce that the 2017 Master of Photography jury will include the internationally renowned photographers Darcy Padilla and Oliviero Toscani and the international esteemed photo-editor Caroline Hunter.
The first edition mentors’ line up included: Alex Webb, Bruce Gilden, Elina Brotherus, Jason Bell, Lois Greenfield, Franco Fontana, Jonny Briggs and David LaChapelle.
To apply, submit a portfolio consisting of 5–10 images and a short introductory video in English. For your portfolio you must choose from one of the following styles: portraiture, reportage, landscape, urban, commercial (e.g. food or fashion) or conceptual.
Phil Edgar-Jones, Director of Sky Arts, said: “Master of Photography has been yet another success for Sky Arts, the programme was a demonstration of just how powerful and important photography remains, and we brought some extraordinary undiscovered talent to light in the process. We look forward to seeing whom we might uncover in 2017.”
