The 13th edition of ARTBO, International Art Fair of Bogotá, will take place between October 26 and October 29 with a special preview and vernissage on October 25. ARTBO is now accepting applications through their online platform: until April 12.
In 2016 the fair solidified its presence as the best quality art fair in Latin America with close to 35,000 attendees including over 500 national and international collectors, curators, institution directors and art world professionals invited through its Special Guests program.
ARTBO has been a key element in the worldwide recognition of Colombian art and the vibrant scene it enjoys today. The fair’s unique model, which includes a wide program of both commercial and non-commercial sections, and its focus on quality and diversity, has given the fair one of the most refreshing perspectives within the international art fair circuit.
The members of the Selection Committee of the Main Section are: Elba Benítez (Galería Elba Benítez, Spain), Eduardo Brandao (Vermelho, Brazil), Beatriz López (Instituto de Visión, Colombia), Alex Mor (mor-charpentier, France-Colombia) and Leon Tovar (Leon Tovar Gallery, USA).
ARTBO sections
Main section: each year, galleries from all over the world participate at the fair presenting a careful selection of modern and contemporary art.
Proyectos: a curated section that showcases projects by contemporary artists, represented commercially by a gallery, who are selected and invited by a curator.
Referentes: this section explores historical works by artists who have shifted paradigms in art and thus have become important reference for artists after them, as well as building blocks for what has been defined as contemporary art. The works are exhibited in a curated show that includes works from participating galleries in Main Section and Projects sections.
Sitio: this section stimulates the viewer’s perception, bringing together a series of works with an almost museum-scale. Sitio showcases projects by recognized contemporary artists.
Foro: a space for learning and discussing topics related to contemporary art. It features important national and international art world personalities, invited by a curator.
Artecámara: this section showcases the work of young Colombian artists, with no gallery representation, who are selected by a curator through a national and public call for applications.
Libro de Artista: a selection of artist book publishers and distributors take part in this section, showing the work of artists that use books as a medium.
Articularte: a space for experimentation and collective production, created to sensitize and bring the general public closer to contemporary art practices.
Institutions, book publishers, cultural magazines and editions: each year different national and international art and culture institutions participate in ARTBO to promote their work.
