Gallery Weekend Korea 2017, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and organized by Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS), will run concurrently with Korea International Art Fair (KIAF) from September 21 to 24 in Seoul.
Launched in 2016, Gallery Weekend Korea is a premier international event in the field of contemporary art. Prominent international curators, gallerists, collectors, and art professionals will also engage in Gallery Weekend Korea’s core programming, which includes: K-ART Conversation, networking receptions, and K-ART FAM Tour throughout Seoul. These activities seek to inspire attendees to participate more fully in cultural, and creative exchanges though immersion in the country’s rich artistic milieu.
Programming highlights
K-ART FAM Tour
To highlight the vitality of Korea’s contemporary art scene, the K-ART FAM Tour offers guided tours of Seoul’s participating art galleries, museums, art institutions, and international art fair, tailored exclusively for visiting international VIP guests.

K-ART Conversation
Presented in partnership with Talking Galleries (TG), K-ART Conversation is a series of international panel talks taking place from September 23 to 24 on the first floor of Seoul COEX (in front of the KIAF Exhibition Hall); the venue provides the public free access. The five panel talks are entitled “Galleries Talk by TG,” “Collectors Talk,” “Media Outlet Talk,” “Asian Abstract Art Talk,” and “Media Art Talk.” In these discussions, various members of the international art market (e.g., national and international art dealers, collectors, journalists, art fair directors, and critics) will deliberate upon diverse issues impacting their respective fields.
