TheArtro, the online platform for contemporary Korean art, is launching its new website to provide a wide array of news and information on Korean art in English. The platform was originally created in 2012 by the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, specializing in international exchanges related to contemporary Korean art. After a renewal in 2017, the new site is designed to serve as a digital platform for English-speaking readers with interest in recent Korean art, offering a variety of in-depth news on contemporary Korean art. 

TheArtro will provide an English database and art archive, as well as articles on art trends and issues such as up-and-coming artists, exhibitions, events, and art news. The website will feature a list of art spaces in Korea and their locations, useful websites, an index of art professionals (such as artists, curators, and researchers), English publications on Korean art, and charts and chronologies of Korean art history. Users will have access to a variety of videos and a calendar of major upcoming artistic events in Korea. 

TheArtro’s sections include: 

Features 
in-depth reports and criticism on all the latest on Korean contemporary art. This section focuses on major art exhibitions, academic conferences, and events such as biennales and art fairs. We deliberately select articles from leading art magazines and news providers from both Korea and overseas. 

What’s On
up-to-date contemporary art news, opportunities, and information on exhibitions in Korea and overseas. The Event Calendar helps users easily find events happening today, while the News section delivers the latest on the Korean art market, newly opened art spaces, publication launchings, awards, and event announcements. 

People
resources on Korean visual art professionals such as interviews, research, and an index of artists, curators, and researchers. Find more interviews and criticisms to get to know emerging and established Korean artists and art professionals.

Video
interviews with working artists and art professionals. Along with artist interviews, this section also provides video reports from exhibitions and events such as fairs and academic conferences.

Archive
information, research and publications on Korean art. Lists of Korean art spaces and useful sites are all categorized by subject. A Korean art history chart and chronology and a digital archive of publications on Korean Art in English are provided.

About the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) 
Established in 2006, the Korea Arts Management Service is a non-profit public arts and cultural foundation affiliated with the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Its mission is to vitalize international exchange of Korean contemporary art and to serve as a bridge between the Korean and international art scenes.
