Assistant/Associate Professor in Art Education
Department of Art Education and Community Arts Practices
Position begins academic year 2018–19
Full-time tenure-track; renewable annually prior to tenure, dependent on appropriate scholarship, teaching, and service to the university.

Qualifications
PhD or EdD, in Art Education at time of hire (ABD considered) and minimum of three years successful
K-12 teaching experience required; three years college teaching and/or program coordination experience
preferred. Knowledge of urban education and social justice art education; a commitment to examine
issues/intersections of race, class, gender, ethnicity, and disabilities through scholarship, pedagogy and/or
studio practice. Cross-pollination with community arts welcome.

Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in art education including: introductory/intermediate/advanced level art education courses for art education (BFA/BS) undergraduates and MED graduates. Supervise of interns and student teachers in the fieldwork; Coordinate undergraduate art education program and participate in curriculum committee work. Maintain
rigorous scholarly research and/or studio practice and with service at school, university and national
levels.

Candidate will:
Advance research in the field of art education through active scholarship, creative work, and leadership; work cross-disciplinarily; be socially engaged with a solid understanding of urban education and how art education fits in that discourse with a related research agenda; have K-12 teaching experience with a deep commitment to students, families, educators, and urban communities.
