Columbia University School of the Arts, Visual Arts Program invites applications for non-tenured Assistant Professors of Visual Arts to fill vacancies in painting, sculpture, and/or photography effective July 1, 2018, for the academic year 2018-19. These positions may be renewed for the 2019–20 academic year, contingent on the needs of the program.
The Visual Arts Program aims to attract experienced and dedicated teachers with a vibrant studio practice, significant exhibition history, and a potential for leadership and service to the program. The teaching load for these positions includes undergraduate and graduate studio courses and advising. The Visual Arts Program is interdisciplinary. Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to instruct undergraduate and graduate students in their respective media, and to engage with all students in the MFA program regardless of medium. They will also be conversant in critical issues and theoretic discussions in the art world.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, Masters degree or equivalent experience preferred. Graduate and undergraduate teaching experience preferred. A strong commitment to the teaching of artists must be in evidence.
