December 6–9, 2018
From December 6–9, 2018, Art Basel, the premier art fair in the Americas, will stage the 17th edition of its show in Miami Beach featuring more than 250 leading international galleries.
Art Basel is currently accepting applications to all sectors: Galleries, Edition, Survey, Nova and Positions. Visit the Art Basel website to submit your application online. Exhibitors for each sector will be selected by Art Basel’s Selection Committee for Miami Beach.
Galleries is the main exhibition sector of Art Basel where leading art galleries for Modern and contemporary art display 20th and 21st century artworks. To qualify to apply for this sector, galleries must have been in operation for a minimum of three years and are specialized in original artworks, not editions. The artworks exhibited at the show must date from 1900 or after.
Edition represents an exclusive selection of the leading publishers of edition works, exhibiting the results of their collaborations with renowned international artists. Galleries must be at least three years old.
Survey presents precise art historical projects that date prior to the year 2000. Proposals for this sector should be specifically developed for the show, and preferably draw upon artists, material and a curatorial approach that distinguish the gallery’s program. The project can include a presentation by a single artist (including single-piece stands) or exhibitions presenting the work of two or more artists within a strong curatorial concept. All galleries are eligible to apply.
Nova focuses on recent artistic production and is open to galleries that have been in existence for two or more years. The booth may feature works by up to a maximum of three artists represented by the gallery. The works displayed must have been created over the past three years.
Positions allows for the discovery of new talent by providing galleries with a platform to present one emerging artist with one major project. Positions requires no minimum gallery age in order to apply. Proposals must comprise a single project (one or more pieces) by one artist represented by the gallery. All artworks exhibited in Positions must be part of the proposed project.
Further information about the show and the online application procedure can be found on the Art Basel website.
