Open tenure-track positions in Critical Studies, and Critical Studies and Studio Art

The Assistant Professor in Critical Studies is a full-time tenure-track position. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Art History, Visual Culture Studies, or a related field, with at least two years teaching experience at the college/university level and a strong, emerging scholarly profile as evidenced by a growing track record of peer-reviewed publications, invited presentations, and more.

The School is especially interested in candidates with a demonstrable knowledge of the history of theoretical discourses within art; a focus on contemporary art practices; and an active awareness of global trends in art, aesthetics, and politics. Faculty selected for this position will be expected to teach at undergraduate and graduate level.

The Assistant Professor in Critical Studies and Studio Art is a full-time, tenure-track dual appointment in the areas of Critical Studies and Studio Art. For this unique position, the school seeks a scholarly artist with a strong, emerging critical theorist profile as evidenced by a track record of publications alongside a dynamic studio practice as evidenced by an active track record of exhibits and institutional activity. We are particularly interested in candidates whose practice bridges the formation and application of theories of art and studio production—particularly as regards the interrelation of writing and making, theory and production, practice and pedagogy.

The ideal candidate will have an active career in both exhibition and publication, and should hold an MFA in Studio Art and/or a PhD in Art History, Visual Culture Studies, or a related field, with at least two years teaching experience at the college/university level. Faculty selected for this position will be expected to teach both critical studies and studio-based courses, and to teach at undergraduate and graduate level.
