2017–18 PNCA Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series

Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) brings provocative and pivotal thinkers, designers, and artists from all over the country to Portland for the 2017–18 PNCA Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series. Each of the lectures is free and open to the public. PNCA’s Graduate Visiting Artist program is a dynamic and essential part of each graduate program’s curriculum, inviting artists, scholars, designers, curators, and critics from around the globe to engage with students and the community in a variety of formats, including lectures, conversations, panel discussions, group critiques, workshops, and studio visits. Chuck Collins

Author and senior scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies where he directs the Program on Inequality and the Common Good.

Claire Pentecost

Artist and writer whose projects often address the contested line between the natural and the artificial, focusing for many years on food, agriculture, bio-engineering, and anthropogenic change.

Sarah Schulman
December 3, 4pm
MA in Critical Studies
Distinguished professor, novelist, playwright, and queer activist. Author of Conflict Is Not Abuse: Overstating Harm, Community Responsibility, and the Duty of Repair.

Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies at PNCA
For over 100 years, PNCA has served as a creative center for artists and designers with an educational philosophy that emphasizes individualized curricula, independent inquiry, and cross-disciplinary exchange. The graduate programs of PNCA’s Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies are rooted in meaningful faculty-student relationships and close community, enhanced with mentors drawn from greater Portland, and expanded further still with visiting artists, curators, and scholars.
