The Media Design MA is aimed at graduates in visual communication, interaction design, game design or computer science. This program opens up career opportunities in the media and communication, creative industries or research in academic institutions.
Media Design MAMedia Design MAAnticipating the challenges of technological change in innovative ways, media designers at HEAD – Genève acquire original methods and tools to design and create projects based upon four different fields:
–Web designers address issues of content communication on mobile media: social media, geo-location services, electronic publications, data visualization and interactive narratives.
–Motion designers explore the new digital image formats in the field of graphic expression, animation techniques, video-projection, coding and interactivity (scripting, motion capture, video mapping).
–Game designers develop games and new forms of digital entertainment through applications, screens, human-machine interfaces.
–Interaction designers design prototypes of interactive and connected everyday objects, based on a fine understanding of the functional and formal challenges in user experience design.
Directed at graduates in Visual Communication, Interactive Design, Game Design and Computer Science, this course opens up a career in media and communication, creative industries as well as research.
The program mixes workshops and personal or group projects. Teaching is based on a forward-thinking, hands-on, experimental and playful approach: creative practice of code, electronics and physical prototyping, design of interactive prototypes, advanced animation and modeling techniques. Theoretical seminars and introduction to research methods complete the program, which ends with a theoretical and practical Master Thesis. Collaborations with external partners across transdisciplinary fields and regular festival and conference visits guarantee to foster real-world experiences for our students in industry and academic disciplines.
