In these uncertain times, critical artistic practices continue to reveal themselves as integral components of a just society. The School of Visual Arts invites artists and designers from across the globe to come together for an intensive, immersive experience in New York City, and explore the many avenues offered by the junction of art and thought. Interdisciplinary summer intensives in critical studies provide artists, writers and designers opportunities to explore the intersection of theory and practice within their fields. Key practitioners, scholars, critics and historians engage participants through lectures, workshops and studio visits designed to provide an intellectually driven, humanistic experience of art and design to makers and thinkers alike. Additionally, residencies in social practice provide opportunities for impacting the social landscape and engaging communities.
