Featuring presentations from the 2016 International Conference on Opportunities in the Arts: Expanding Worlds

TransCultural Exchange’s International Conference on Opportunities in the Arts: Expanding Worlds archive is now freely available online at www.transculturalexchange.org/archives.

This archive highlights over 100 of the conference’s presentations. It features the presenters’ talks on exciting possibilities for artists to embrace different cultures, mindsets and technologies. It includes the Pecha Kucha style presentations by artist-in-residency directors and funders. It highlights the speakers’ practical advice for artists, their discussions on how art can play a vital role in social or political interventions and the many ways for artists to collaborate with those in other disciplines, including medicine, architecture, conservation and engineering. In essence, it is an archive of the organizations’ 2016 global platform helping artists gain the skills and means to pursue their goals while advancing artistic innovation.

This 2016 conference archive, along with TransCultural Exchange’s 2018 Conference web portal (which lists the upcoming 2018 conference’s speakers and abstracts) is mobile-friendly and fully accessible with alternative text for images and close-captioned videos.

“… I had little idea of what an immense, diverse, and rich experience it would be. (There’s no way a list of prestigious names can capture quite how amazing it is to have all of those people next to one another talking.) … The conference already had, and will continue to have, a great impact on me both in terms of the contacts I made but also simply in terms of new ideas, ways of making, and kinds of thinking that were opened up to me there.”
–2016 conference attendee
